If you’re downgrading Asus Zenfone 5 with a WW SKU, choose 1.17.40.16_WW_recovery.img

Why we should use 1.17.40.16_WW_recovery.img instead of V1.18.40.10(WW) as both are jellybean.

Already got asus adb interface and intel driver 1.1.5 installed.
    tried re-installing too.

USB Debugging is on and phone is connected.

Any solution ? Please reply ASAP. I don’t have recovery now.

If you’re downgrading a Zenfone 5 and 6, choose 1.17.40.16_WW recovery image. If you got a Zenfone 4, try 4.3.10_WW_recovery.img

Hi, I have a Zenfone 5 running on Android KitKat 4.4.2. Ever since I got this phone around 2 months ago, Android OS background data usage has been absurdly high. It’s now at 48MB while the total usage is at 80MB (includes Android OS consumption). I’ve already disabled syncing for, I believe, everything, turned off location setting, turned off backup and restore, turned off check for updates. I’ve read a lot of articles on Google on possible cause. I’ve also restored factory settings but none of these fixed the problem. Would you know what could be causing this? Or how I can troubleshoot? Thanks 🙂

Have you turned off the auto-update of Playstore apps already? I’ve never encountered this problem before.

I just keep getting “error: device not found” when I type “adb fastboot reloader” on the cmd and nothing happened. I’m downgrading my zenfone 4, I already connected the phone to the PC, USB Debugging mode On, and on recovery mode (I turn of the device and then Power Up+Vol Down key). Any solution for this problem? Thank you

Try doing the process using a Windows XP machine as suggested by MAJIT SHAIKH (user above) if you’re failing to downgrade using a Windows 7.

    Hi dear friends,
Last night after I connected to the home wifi, a reminder said that an update is ready (as it happened before), I accept that and after shutting down, it normally updated to android 4.4.2. When it started again, everything was ok except wifi. Although I turn it on, but unfortunately it can’t find any ssid name while other mobile and tablets connects normally.
I tried a lot and so did factory reset, I lost everything but the wifi problem not solved.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you ASAP.
Believe me, it’s a very urgent condition.

Try to wipe the cache and wipe data. If the problem still persist, downgrade to your firmware version before the update,

If software update doesn’t solve it, that’s a hardware problem. Maybe you have a grounded earphone jack. Bring it to the nearest service center if that’s the case.

Hi guys, I tried above instructions, after step 10 it doesn’t enter to recovery screen so that I can select “UPDATE FROM ADB”
what happens is that the phone turns off and nothing is shown, then after a long time (such as 1 minute) it reboots and boots normally.
    Awaiting for your Ideas.

wow so many un answered question.
1.backup a recovery image consist of
    a. system (Stock Factory ROM) this is when you buy the device it comes with it.
    b.data
    c.system setting

My advice dont learn straight into things about how to downgrade or upgrade. You should first learn about how to flash The TWRP or any RECOVERY system first. It all comes to this recovery system. it is the major stuff to ease make you proceed easier on flashing custom roms etc..

Trust me i know what im talking about. Cause i learn the hard way.
Just like other android enthusiast i jump straight to upgrading and later i regret and wanted to downgrade.

My advice go find other active forum instead of relying into just 1 forum.
    cheers.
